What is “Proof of Relationship?

The most confusing and frustrating portion of the fiance visa application is called the “proof of relationship”.  Proving a relationship can often seem like proving a feeling, it exists but not in material ways. A few things to consider when approaching your proof of relationship.

One of the top reasons for delays in a fiance visa application arise when not enough information is presented to prove the relationship. How many pictures should be sent? Are there items you should not send? Imagine the frustration of waiting to get your package approved and then being asked to send more information. The proof of relationship has more than one roll in the fiance process. It beigns with the application sent by the sponsor to USCIS so that their fiance can join them in the US. And finally, when applying for the adjustment of status (green card) after the wedding, the proof of relationship is requested.
